After a magnificent debut album, "Paradise Belongs To You", which had an intense feeling of neo-folk concerning its atmosphere, Saturnus managed to return 2 years later with an EP, "For the Loveless Lonely Nights". The aesthetic of the album is deeply mourning and utterly melancholic and thus no other title would fit better such a beautiful piece of emotional music. The funereal black/white cover harmonizes wonderfully with both the title and the feeling of the album and prepares the listener of what will follow.

Best EP ever, and my all time favorite non-extreme Doom Metal album. It has the earlier neo-folk touches that Kim Larsen used to corporate "Thou Art Free, For Your Demons", the woeful brilliant guitar leads "Starres" and the awesome two live tracks that were recorded in a live show which some say is legendary
He who is not bold enough
to be stared at from across the abyss
is not bold enough
to stare into it himself.

This is worth getting just for the first and second track, also the live version of Christ Goodbye is very good, but then again the live version of Rise of Nakkiel is not as good as the studio version.. All the songs will blow your mind and make you think why they aren't in a studio album..

Overall an 9/10 for this EP, I am still listening to it after almost 1 and a half years of owning it. Also I prefer listening to this than Martyre, how about that?
