Unholy's "Gracefallen" is their fourth official full-length release and at the same time their last attempt in the world of music since they split-up afterwards. They managed to end a legendary course in the most appropriate way, with a third masterpiece in a row, unleashing their non-compromising inspiration in the 9 compositions of "Gracefallen".

Definitely one of the most under appreciated doom bands if you ask me. They should get a bigger following... They had their very own sound and their entire discography is impeccable to say the least.

Damn I love this song so much. So hypnotic.

Only heard this album and their debut, but this one is way better if you ask me (I felt the vocals on the first one were a bit overdone sometimes). Have yet to hear the albums in between these two though.

Yeah, kind of strange even on MS all the albums have very few votes. Really love the style of this one, fantastic album.

Hmm, overdone in what way? Not criticizing, I'm just curious. I would think that the thinner production could be a turn-off to some, but I love the vocals so do explain. Definitely check out their other releases as well, I have a feeling you'll like them more than the debut, but not quite as much as Gracefallen.

Well, if memory serves me right, I found the vocals to be too aggressive and overly present (I like vocals that are more subtle, if that makes any sense). That being said, it might not be entirely fair to say this since it's a while ago and never listened to it more than once, and you might know by now I can't accurately judge an album after just one listen. But yeah, I'll check the other two albums out too then.

Well that makes sense. Still, I'd say give it another chance. Then again I'm a massive Unholy fanboy, so their flaws are minimal in my eyes.

Unholy is most probably the only early doom/death band that never really disappointed me: four albums, all of them at least decent, all of them different but special in their very own way, yet it's doom/death all the way from their debut to their swansong.

I'm just wondering that of all things this album has been awarded with the highest average rating on MS, despite of the predominant female vocals.

Glad they added it for the re-issue because it's one hell of a closer. Imo it's the best way to end the album (and carrier). A long, calm, introspective walk into the void with ethereal female vocals in the background.

Oh Lord! I hear some of the doomiest Type O Negative with Schuldiner/Tardy vocals...and classic haunting woman vocals too. Sweet!
