True true... but even if you have a couple of them.. it looks like a cool collector's item

Oh definitely. Besides, let's not forget that some of the stuff on the box isn't on any other cd.

Plus they were all remastered in 2012 with pretty much all of them even remixed as well, right?
I'd say it doesn't depend if you already have their albums, rather it depends how big of a Blind Guardian nut you are instead. If it wasn't for the remastering/remixing then it would seem a bit pointless, but having the sound on every album updated with the Blind Guardian standards of present time sounds great.

In my humble opinion, just listening the remastered songs in Memories of a Time To Come gives a nice viewpoint of what it could to come in this boxset (if just were also included A Twist in the Myth, because I loved the remastered version of This Will Never End).
Now, what I think is, how they will get better the sound of A Night at the Opera? For myself this one has an "almost perfect" production

Yeah, that song really benefits from the updated sound. I agree, they should definetely have given the whole album a treat like this in the coming box. Actually it makes you wonder a bit, what the reasons were for releasing Memories Of A Time To Come if they already had almost the entire discography to be done pretty much in the same manner just lurking right around the corner.
A Night At The Opera has a monster sound! There's just so much stuff going on in there, the production really is right on the money for capturing that bombastic feeling and bringing it all together. If we look past the concept of Nightfall In Middle Earth and the variety of At The Edge Of Time, then I think Opera is the most deep and accomplished Blind Guardian album to date, also in terms of production.

Wow, this thing is really huge. Larger than an LP box and quite heavy, too.

Just received my order today. Looks fantastic!
Price for one CD is about 10 euros, which isn't too expensive a price for a record, at least in Finland.
Now it seems that the re-mastered versions are ~15 euros at one of our biggest record shops, so this collection can be seen as a bargain, too.
Besides, it sure is a nice item for a fan - or for a nut!
