Do you like guitar shredding? How about time signature changes? Comic books? If you answered yes to all three of these, then this is the album for you. There are a number of likely reasons this album flew under the radar in 2014: the dismissive deathcore/djent/metalcore labels, the lack of marketing, the short length of time since their previous (also great) album. Luckily, there is no time like the present to remedy the injustice. Phenomena is a nerdy collection of odes to comic villains and heroes served up via some technical musicianship that rivals that of Dillinger Escape Plan.

Wow I simply love this, and much prefer it over Fallujah's release. Nothing like this that I know of, awesome!!!!

Some pretty solid melodic deathcore. The subtle video game soundtrack-style melodies make this worth listening to.

Hey, just curious as to why this album is not topping the "TOP OF 2014 LIST" featured on this website. I'm only asking because 8.5 rating and >20 user votes.
Is this an error or is the list not really auto-transparent user poll based as I thought it was?

I notice you're a staff and also dig this album so thats why this ms noob chose to trouble you.

The band's profile is still invisible. They can't enter the "race" for the top20. And if it did, you'd see the rating drop super low, especially since it's part -core, unfortunately.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. Is this (Within The Ruins) profile invisible because MS does not want to 'feature' it and/or the information is incomplete?

The '-core' issue, ofcourse I understand what you mean haha. But in all fairness MS as an entity would know technically what makes something metal. Let the user perception take its own course. WTR may be shot down like a certain ethnic dude among certain other ethnics hell bent on exterminating the aforementioned ethnic's identity, but that should never be taken for granted. Personally, I don't think they deserve a top 20 spot feelwise - but this is fairly original tech metal:)

No, MS keeps the profiles invisible when there is not enough relevance to metal, and this is most probably invisible just because the info is incomplete and/or no one had time to activate it yet. Not because it's deathcore. The score goes down because of the users themselves that are not into anything -core, there is no intervention from the staff.

Fair enough. Somebody has filled up the essential info seems filled/updated. I'm guessing it's already been requested but I pushed that button anyway.
Yeah, I can imagine that. Although a balanced review may work in favour of bands that have appealing substance. . Hah mostly said that just so I could use this smiley tbh
In any case I can honestly see this appealing to Mario fans who like tech death if presented in such context.

One of the most under-looked albums of 2014. Some of the best guitar work of the year.
