If you are a true Metal-head you already know this name, Immolation, a band known for their shocking and incredibly brutal music, a name praised for albums like "Unholy Cult" and "Close To a World Below". Though I can't really understand why albums like "Dawn Of Possession" were never eulogized by the scene; few people (mostly fans of the band) truly know that this album is one of their best works to date. Fortunately a Polish label called Metal Mind Productions Remastered and re-released this album for you to hear its marvelous music.

Excellent old school death metal release, gotta thank Herzebeth for the great review and opening my eyes to this classic monster of an album....

Ignore Morbid Angel's Covenant and Altars of Madness. This is definitely a true classic and also the best album of Immolation.

Infused with a lot of progressive passages made this album very hard to listen but that is the core reason making it so artistic, unique and impossible to be replaced !

What an exceptional debut effort. I mean it was sort of the norm for death metal groups to release brilliant first albums in the late 80s/early 90s (Altars of Madness, Slowly We Rot, Deicide, Seven Churches, etc.) but Dawn of Possession takes the cake. Earthy, filth-ridden vocals, menacing guitar work and unrelenting conviction for the band's performance makes this an outstanding piece of work. The title track remains one of my all-time favourite songs of this particular sub-genre.

What's up with OSDM bands making fantastic debuts? Entombed, Dismember, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Autopsy, Demigod, Asphyx ... and Immolation!

Some serious solid death metal

The fact that this was released in 1991 is absolutely mind-blowing, they were so ahead of their time
