I dont know what the fuck is going wrong with this band. i am trying to give them many shots, i've now listened to their first 3 albums but none has managed to impress me A LOT. i hope "close to a world bellow" to be better cause after that i am afraid i'll stop trying them...

A lot of people think Close to a World Below to be their best, though I don't.

This is also my favorite Immolation album btw.

The sound of the drums is awful, but this is still a great record.

Their first 2 albums infused with a lot of progressive elements that would be considered hard to digest for people like pure death metal. "Close to a world below" is much more commercial, should be able to fit you well.

The drums are not awful but the music direction is awful.
Blast beats do not fit in, not their style at all. Frankly speaking their first 2 albums are their best.

Slightly weaker than the band's first two albums, but considering those first two albums are brilliant that's not saying much. also not saying much that the musical direction here seems more clinical, by which I mean to say the delivery seems more focussed on technique and timing than the onslaught of twisted riffs and maniacal tones, found on Dawn of Possession. That said, I did fully enjoy "No Jesus No Beast" and "Stench of High Heaven", if anything for their forceful battery.
