Staff review by
The twenty-first century has not been kind to extreme metal pioneers Venom. Four releases into their reunion and they have struggled to hit the proverbial nail on the head. As such, it was difficult to expect much on the new album, From The Very Depths. Yet somehow, Cronos and friends have managed to reverse this trend and come out with an album that despite its overall generic sound is still quite enjoyable.

Have to admit, Venom outran itself on this one. Enjoyable music, something that I haven't heard from them in ages.

The current line-up has been together for awhile now and it shows. Sounds like they are firing on all cylinders with a production that sounds full. At long last Cronos had his vocals recorded and produced the best they are going to get. The songs cover a variety of styles that work well together. This is hands down their best album since 'Resurrection". From the Very Depths is getting lots of playtime from me.

Really fun album. Loving the speed and energy. Venom sounds reinvigorated on this one.
