Rishloo is an incredible band, managing to put out really high quality albums. Even the break from 2012 to 2013 didn't hold them back from releasing once again a stunning record that even tops their previous albums. Living As Ghosts With Buildings As Teeth marks their most mature output to date, filled with musical diversity and complexity.

I'm still blown away by this album. I never expected Rishloo to get this bloody good, although maybe I was too easily amused last year.

Well,,,I gave it a spin. Lasted about 3 songs. Not really my thing. It's way too complicated, too much going on. I like a more straight forward approach in my prog. This reminds me of bands like Pain Of Salvation, Leprous, Arcturus - stuff I just don't get for the most part. I won't delete this, I may come back to it in the future - who knows, opinion could change.

Yeah I see Rishloo as right at home with The Mars Volta, Karnivool, Tool, Caligula's Horse, etc. It's progressive only to a point and the sound is still really based in alternative metal for me. Those bands that you mentioned are good, but not what pop into my head when I think of Rishloo.

Outstanding. I regret not listening to this group when I first heard of them ages ago. Favorite tracks: Landmines, Dead Rope Machine.

Seriously? I find the vocals to be excellent. Definitely one of the bests in the recent memory.

Awww I was liking you because you gave Headspace's album a really great score and then you said this comment! Ah well, thanks for giving it a shot.

I need a new Rishloo album ASAP. This album basically one-ups every other album in their discography and takes up the mantle that The Mars Volta left behind.

I've come to the conclusion that this is their best album and one of the greatest prog albums ever. Not a note out of place and not a thematic expression that isn't fully realized on all grounds. Used to consider Feathergun their best but I think this one is more refined.

Im torn between this and feqthergun. That album had huge personal connection with me. This one , on the other hand , is their most complete and mature album.
I'm not sure if I call it prog , though. More like alternative rock /metal with prog tendencies.

While 5 sounds unjustified BECAUSE the rater didn't care a could give me a list of artists that sound similar making it 'average'. Honestly I'd be so glad I could indulge in them. lol

Average is not equal to "generic" or "typical" in the rating system IMO.

I think it would be if random votes were weighted properly. The thing is people are more likely to rate albums they like than albums they consider to be average, so the average scores are positively skewed. Anyway, now that this album has more votes it's converged to typical score distribution for albums on the site rather than being dragged down by a single negative vote.
