The Black Twilight Circle? They are onto something. Something good. Something unique.

It was the excited conversation in Metal Storm's very own shoutbox along with Mr. Doctor's enthusiastic review that brought me to this album. I must say, my initial impression was strong. I have been less than impressed by a lot of recent black metal I have heard, and I am especially wary of any from my own homeland of America. Yet Volahn managed to pique my interest enough to warrant closer inspection.

Just because it's very treble-y doesn't mean it's thin. The guitar tone is one of my favourite aspects of this band/album actually. It goes well with the euphoric melodies.

Agreed. The melodies are so euphoric and even heavy-metal-like that if they were shown in any other way they would sound kind of cheesy. But like it is it just sounds savage.

Sorry, no bass or mid and only treble = thin. You can still like it, but it's definitely thin.

It's not only treble though. It has a focus on highs which makes for a nice bright tone, but there's enough weight to it. It's far from some darkclone's paper thin lo-fi guitar tone.
