Italy's three-piece doom/stoner/psychedelic group Ufomammut have returned with their latest offering of spacey, quirky, heavy-as-hell brand of ritualistic sludge metal. Ecate is another benchmark in Ufomammut's timeline, arriving on the heels of their latest magnum opus, the two-disc epic journey Oro. Ecate is a bit different in that it's very accessible; a barrage of quiet, ambient phases tied together in a rudimentary way with mind-melting, dense, and crushing dynamics.

The announcement was made over here. I can't seem to find the album cover, but it might be this image which was linked on their facebook.

Wary complex to listen, s hard actually, you need do, music slows you down, sleeping is not option.
I don't like such song titles .... hmmmm Immortal style are better for example, but its just song titles, but album artwork aslo is key factor

I don't think I can feel the change Jay is talking about. I might be too rusty on my Ufomammut or just haven't paid attention to the right things. But it's just as crushing as usual. Well done.

It's there. The songs aren't as complicated. Simpler, more riff-tastic and shorter. I also think the psychedelic moments have taken a back seat too.

I'll make sure to spin a few songs from the previous album next time, before I get back to this one, thanks.

I was expecting more to be honest. Decent overall, but lacks standout moments that really impress.

This is one of Ufomammut's weakest albums, so I would definitely recommend checking out Snailking and Eve if you like this
