I don't even finish my first spin and *9 this already...So good.
I'm experiencing exactly the same thing right now (album is almost finished). Fuck, this is so damn good.

The 7th and 8th track were really fucking solid. Kinda wished that the rest of the album was as good as those 2 tracks.
Just listened to it once but to me it seems it's a highly consistent album.

Now that is how you photograph a record. Absolutely stunning. Going to buy that asap
Edit: Apparently the photography is done by Astareth. Some pretty interesting shots on her website.

After about 7 or 8 spins this album lost its shine a bit. It's still a great album, but not worthy of a 9.

Was a little faint initially because of the magnificance of Carpe Noctem but I'm starting to learn to appreciate the majestic beauty of this on its own.

This just doesn't do much for me. Solid album, but I was expecting much more given the amount of jerking this band has received.

Put this off for a while. Kind of wish I hadn't bothered. It's pretty pedestrian, third-tier DsO / Ondskapt worship without any real individual personality traits going on, or really anything that stands out at any point. A couple of years too late; might as well listen to Carpe Noctem or Svartidauði. Going to try that Akhlys record now and see if it lives up to the hype.

This is what I note with a lot of the recent Icelandic BM bands that've been coming out in the past three or so years. Even though Carpe Noctem and Svartidaudi are better than this (I would say, anyway), they too fall victim to heavy DsO worship at points and aren't entirely that original. This whole Icelandic BM thing is definitely cool, it's not BAD, and it's starting to grow to the point of possibly being able to be called its own scene. But I think eventually it'll have to outgrow some of the idol worship and make itself a bit more innovative if it's going to mature and come into its own
If more bands took to learning from the example of Wormlust, for example, I think things would get much more interesting.

I agree, I think they're in danger of becoming a collection of homogenised DsO derivatives unless they start showing some new traits. Nothing wrong with a bit of influence, but the DsO sound is a bit tired now and I imagine they're capable of so much more.
Wormlust definitley reign supreme at this point =3

As I said yesterday in the Shoutbox, I hope the Icelandic bm scene develops into something of its own. For now it's fun, but nothing too exciting.
Wormlust definitely stands out from the pack.

I totally agree that they are not as original as people beleive they are. But damn... Bands like Svartdidaudi are fucking KILLERS live and these bands are the closest I can ever get to actually see DSO play live.
I'm sure these guys will destroy at Roadburn.

Always worth catching stuff like this live. Hopefully they'll have some interesting theatrics going on. I can't really imagine what DsO would be like live though. Hoping one day they get together with Blut aus Nord for some batshit insane secret show in the middle of Pripyat or something.

Dude as part of their three day Artist In Residence thing at Roadburn, on the second day they're going to be doing some collaborative set with a drone band. You know I'm gonna be all over that shit

That's underselling it a bit though, as it is actually a collaboration between 4 Vánagandr-related bands (Naðra, NIYÞ (the "drone" band I'm assuming), Grafir and yes, Misþyrming) entitled Úlfsmessa, which has been held 2 times before in Iceland. You can read the Roadburn announcement as well as listen to the bands here, and there are some short clips on youtube that could perhaps give you some vague idea of what the Roadburn ritual might be like, though you are probably better off just reading the reviews of the 2015 Eistnaflug festival performance if interested.
I'd recommend attending.

I definitely shall be!
Thanks for the explanation, I also really like how Roadburn are having each individual band that's part of Misþyrming's Artist In Residence stay play their own separate sets, and to that end I'll probably be checking out Naðra and NIYÞ as well
