First release in the "Runaljod" trilogy, that interprets the runes of the Elder Futhark.

Part 1 in the Runaljod-trilogy - music inspired by the 24 runes of the elder ᚠᚢþᚨᚱᚲ (futhark - runic alphabet). Each part deals with 8 runes. The runes explored on part 1 are ᚺ (H), ᛒ (B), þ (TH), ᛃ (J), ᛚ (L), ᚲ (K), ᛉ (Z), ᛞ (D).

Recorded by Kvitrafn at Fimbuljóð studio and various outdoor locations, 2003-2008.

I remember how happy I was when I learned that tracks from the first Wardruna album is going to be the soundtrack for the Vikings series. It is an excellent choice, as we are talking about a music that truly reforms and represents this theme. Apart from that this is the most atmospheric Wardruna album, but the weaker by the aspect of songwriting. The two other albums are better by this point of view.
