Omg !!! I'm so hyped... haven't been hyped like this for a new release in freakin' ages! I simply can't wait.

Once the riff in Chlorine kicked in I knew that song was awesome

Also I'm curious to what animal those ears belong to.

That's technically only the top left corner of the album cover as seen here. (image below)

This cover will be fantastic for sure, and the music as well, without a doubt. (I'm probably a fanboy.. but whatever).

A vast improvement over the last one. This feels more like a combination of Red with Blue - sufficiently long and pretty energetic. I'm so glad they're back on track!

The mix seems off too me. The drums sound like they're clipping. Damn good album though.

Sounds like a little red/blue on the first couple tracks - riffs even sound copped from prior work - but the more it goes on the more it sounds like yellow/green with a little red edge to it.

prefer it first time through to y/g, but still short of red and blue.

I'm liking this more with every spin, I actually didn't find it that memorable after the first listen. But it's growing on me a lot, I won't rate it yet, I'll see later.

EDIT: Yep, and now I'm hooked. Goddamn it Baroness.

This may be the first album of theirs I seem to be getting into. Must check their backcatalog afterwards.

I listened to Chlorine & Wine and Shock Me and those songs seems to be written for radio, gets a bit booring too fast for me. Maybe some of the earlier material is more challenging?

Give Red Album and Blue Record a shot, they're both fantastic

Decent album, but production is terribly compressed.

There all kinds of neat layering and flourishes I like, but a few of the songs feel disjointed by the harmony and/or noise. Overall, my initial impression is that it's around a 7.8, but I think the production might be fatiguing my ears by midpoint. Individually, none of the songs are poor, really. In fact, I think the majority are really good and 4 of them are great. G&Y grew on me and this probably will, too.

One thing, when I use my 50mm studio headphones, the impression is better. It's as if the album is meant as a reward for good, full range headphones.

This is easily my favorite album by this band. It feels like such a complete return to form after the wandering strangeness of Y&G, with fuzzy solos, inventive riffs, and songs that even at first listen feel like epic masterpieces. "Morningstar," "Kerosene," "Desperation Burns," and "The Iron Bell" all rank up there with "A Horse Called Golgotha," "War, Wisdom, and Rhyme," and "Isaak" in terms of both technical display and emotional coloring. "Kerosene" in particular is one of the best songs Baroness has ever put out. I spin this album more than their previous three put together, and I'd even venture to say it gives Mastodon's Leviathan / Blood Mountain era a run for its money, playing a style that band hasn't been able to grab hold of again in many ways better than how they've stylized their newer material.
