01. Eyegasm 02. Mausoleum Of The Almost 03. Transmogrification 04. Eternitarian 05. Of Barbs And Barbules 06. Kairos Through Aion 07. Gravis Vociferatur 08. Festive Garments 09. Hallelujah!
I cannot believe no one has been talking about this album. I mean, the first half is a little rough on the edges and might be a little bit superfluous.... but Kairos Through Aion all the way through Hallelujah! is an absolute triumph and one of the best post-metal displays I have come across in a looooooong time. The harsh vocals are on point, the riffs are heavy and enthralling, the ambient sections are performed to perfection, and the overall chemistry of the band captivates me in just about every facet. My rating is almost entirely based on the second half of the album. Thankfully the first half of the album has grown on me a little, but I imagine if they had cut material in the beginning this would probably be close to a 10 for me.
Incredible stuff. Jay, if you haven't checked this baby out, you're in for a treat. I think I like this even more than Samaroid Dioramas.
This hasn't been a great year for post-metla (well, at least compared to 2014, which was a fantastic year for post-metal), but this is a very fine record; I can't remember Samaroid Dioramas that well, but I think this is a big step up from my memory of that album
Gonna give this a 10. My favourite album of 2015 by a wide margin, even with some of the difficulties I had with the first half of the album. Eternitarian grew on me significantly and now I consider the whole album solid.... I still contend that last half of the album is one of the best endings to any album I think I've heard. So much consistency and signs of future brilliance. Blows Samaroid Dioramas out of the water!
Easy there tough guy I have listened to this at least a dozen times, I do like it, but not as much as SD. My little nitpicks with the album: 1. The drum sound is a little "off", don't like how they recorded them or if the band traded equipment. 2. The song writing a bit chaotic. Post metal has always never been about verse/chorus and even one of my favorite albums, Altar Of Plagues - Teethed Glory and Injury, contains some of the most turbulent songs ever created. On this album, because of the anarchic nature of the songs, the pace and gate of the album feels random and unorganized. It just doesn't flow right.
I do like the album and I may just be suffering a bit of a letdown because of the high standard I place on the last album. I did the same thing with Dirge's last release: A really fine album that unfortunately comes on the heels of one of my favorite albums of all time.

The songwriting is not really all that chaotic. Sunpocrisy basically embraced their progressive tendencies and let their explorative nature take over (especially on Eyegasm and Eternitarian). The real key here is the flow of the songs through each other, a fact that has long been one of Sunpocrisy's strengths, and just how heavy and powerful some of the final moments are. It starts off really slow and picks up to an extremely rapid pace only to plateau into lovely ambient territory in Hallelujah!; it benefits from not only being a metal album filled with stunning post metal tracks, but it also feels like a long post metal song in and of itself. This is without mentioning the increased technicality and focus on riffs and heavier sections that really pulls this album over the line.
Also, I tend to give at least one album a 10 each year so it's not as if I have the strictest quality control.
Listened to "eyegasm", a great track. Gonna check the rest of the album soon. Disliked the album's title, I hope the lyric theme isn't something like that.
One of the best endings to a post-metal album ever. Hallelujah! is an absolute triumph.
So I can put it on the totem along with Apogee, Garden Of Light, Monument, Dark City Dead Man, Daemons and Humanity Is False? I will listen again
Yo you should try and help me find post-metal albums that are as progressive and psychedelic as this one. I've been listening to this album a lot and think it might be in my top 5 metal albums of all time. :O Which is saying a lot- didn't even know Sunpocrisy had this in them.
