I always thought the name Human Fortress could make for some gruesome artwork with a mass of body parts forming some sort of unholy burg. I didn't get anything like that though. This is safe melodic metal defined. No songs being particularly shocking, but absolutely nothing special on offer. Thieves Of The Night sounds alright when listening to it, but I instantly forgot about it afterwards.

Nope. Their two first albums are power metal classics. This one follows the same path but for the most part just feels tired and repetetive. The second half of the album is just a waste of time and among the first half I guess I would say Amberstow and Last Prayer to the Lord are the best tracks.

EDIT: re-evaluation time. It's not as bad as I thought previously. I'll give it one extra point as I think there's good moments to find here, sadly too few apart. Apart from the songs I mentioned earlier I also like the title track.

I can't make it past Amberstow. I have no idea what it is they're trying to do, but for me Raided land was certainly better, although not by much. Listening to this after Lord of Earth and Heaven's Heir is barely comparable.
