I guess he was judging by the music as Metallica already have quite a bit of live material, the intentions behind the record are not pointless however, and I respect Metallica a lot for doing this, as much as people jump on them for selling out its respectable that they use their mainstream status for stuff like this.

Indeed. It is anything but pointless.
I already mentioned in another thread that I agree 100% with their move this time. I won't buy it because I don't like Metallica (their music, I mean) but it is a good action that deserves congratulations.

I agree with @gent_-_orange, as for Parisian attacks is is great they are helping!!!

But from musical point of view this is another pointless record by Metallica, since i have heard them for the first time in 1999 they have not recorded a single decent studio album, i love their yearly records, Load and Reload are not what i would expect but stil listenable, S&M is their last good record but a live one.
So actually since 1997 there is just a lot of shity records except for a few good dvd's.
Thats why i find Kreator and Sodom the very best trash metal band's in the world and think Metallica's time has ended in mid '90s,
Anthrax, Iron Maiden and Slayer they all manage to record good albums lately, but not Metallica they don't even try, thats why its pointless.

If for no other reason, James' rig was 4 Mesa Dual or Triple Rectifiers. Probably 2 going and 2 backup. Since Kirk uses a DR as half of his regular rig, he would have a similar setup to James, but with a Tubescreamer in front.
