The Best Black Metal Album Of 2016

Apparently the band has read on the internet that their vocals are ridiculously annoying and acted on that. They managed to craft a lot of great music too.

Yeah I miss the guy who did the previous artwork cuz it was awesome. But while the artwork in this album is worse, the music in general just sounds much better, thanks to Dagon's efforts to sound good.

Not sure if I still need to give it more listens but I think I still like the previous album more, despite the improvement in vocals. It's about the riffs for me anyway.
I don't like the cover art for either album.

In case you didn't know, he is Paolo Girardi, one of the most unique and jaw dropping artists active in metal now. I haven't enjoyed every single work of an artist so much since Dan Seagrave's tbh.

Hmm, his other Shit looks good, but I still don't like that cover

Haha fair enough, actually I considered that Inquisition cover as one of his best. My favorite though is this.

Paolo Girardi DID NOT do that cover. Above Chaos did.

Paolo Girardi DID NOT do that cover.

Not a single person said he did it. Everyone said someone else did it.

A Black Eon Shall Cleanse is the coolest track. Although people might complain its the least bm track and way too catchy stuff I enjoy it just fucking too much. That and the title track are the highlights. The outros seem unnecessary so I skip it almost every time.

That the vocals have moved a bit more into generic and well known territory is a bit lifeless but overall it sounds decent.

Does anyone else think that this is their worst album? There are a couple great tracks but I'd rather listen to anything else by them.

Loving the new vocal style--sounds like Deathspell Omega's vocals from SMRC, which I thoroughly enjoy.

Right, now that I don't have to force myself to get past the crappy vocals, I'm enjoying the cool riffing of Inquisition much more. This album is still pretty standard black metal, but the sort of standard black metal that happens to be very well-done, in my opinion. My only complaint is that the album sounds a bit same-y from one song to the next, but it's good anyway so I'm still digging it.

I really like the song "Bloodshed Across The Empyrean Altar Beyond The Celestial Zenith" (the song, not the album)
Its mostly instrumental. Are there any other song that are like that (less vocals) ?
