The Best Industrial / Cyber / Electronic Metal Album Of 2017

I don't mind waiting forever for a new album by a band I like. I'd rather wait 10 years than get an album that disappoints. More frequent output may mean decline in quality. Samael certainly did take their time after Lux Mundi. 6 years is the longest we've had to wait between their albums. How does wait time translate into quality? I'm happy to announce that the ratio is more than satisfactory.

Gave it another spin: I found myself liking the individual songs and couldn't find any low point, but they already wrote ALL of them for Lux Mundi, Above, Solar Soul and Reign of Light, and as a whole the album falls terribly flat. Sounds like a tight, massive rehash of the same song over and over again, there's not much more in it. Also, lyric-wise they've become redundant and tacky, they've been telling these sort of political/spiritual/newagey mumbo jumbo since Eternal. It actually felt great for a while, but come on...

Gotta say, I was hoping that the arrival of Thomas Betrisey (aka Drop) would give a hint of Sybreed (since he used to be the mastermind behind this band).
I was more drawn to listen to Gothminister's The Other Side than Hegemony yesterday. I'll try again tonight or tomorrow.

It is their best since Passage, but Passage is still significantly better. I'd suggest giving that a spin if you found this one ok/decent/good. Their first couple albums - Blood Ritual,Worship Him and Ceremony of Opposites are slow, brooding black metal. A departure from what else was going on in the very early 90s.

COE and Passage are high points, as reflected by their scores on MS.

Ech... Samael...

Will you ever release album matching greatness of Ceremony? Will you?

Every time they release new album ever since Ceremony I'm getting excited only to get disappointed. Another mediocre, featureless album
