According to most Orphaned Land fans, the quality went downhill - if ever so slowly - since Mabool... but a masterpiece is hard to top anyway. So, what about Unsung Prophets & Dead Messiahs?

High hopes. Nothing really came near Mabool, but nothing has been BAD from them either.

Sounds like they have come full circle, there's a little bit of every one of their past albums here - the death prog of Mabool, the lush symphonic instrumentation of Orwarrior and the choirs and pop sensibility of All is One.

I was afraid the departure of Yossi would have dire consequences but nope, this is on par with their best stuff.

I just watched an interview with Kobi and he said some songs on the album were censored on purpose. I find that experiment a little strange and i hope the bleeps don't ruin the listening experience. I still am really looking forward to this one though.

Source, please?
Well I hope they won't be on the album version. What a waste if they are.

It was on a YouTube channel called Loud TV. The band also made a post about it on their facebook page. Unfortunately it looks like it will be on the album version.

Thanks for the answer mate!

Here's the whole post on facebook:
Quote:
Many fans ask us about this "beep" sound on 'We Do Not Resist'.

'Unsung Prophets & Dead Messiahs' is an angry/tragic protest album. We are the ones that actually have decided to censor ourselves, when you'll have the album booklet at your hands, you'll also see that these words are deleted and censored.

We basically wanted to use the "beep" sounds as parts of the music. Also as a part of the concept, as if we are trying to deliver a message and being silenced by the system.

The "beeps" sounds appear on four different place around the album. We were always big fans of all these sounds - white noise (We already used it from the times of El Norra Alila & Mabool), Phone sounds & radio freqs (ORwarriOR), Morse (All Is One) and now those "beeps" too - all those sounds that are there in Propaganda and Censorship are part of the music if you want.

So it's just for you to know what's the reasons behind it.
We censored ourselves.
And we did not resist!

I find this moronic a bit. But wth, I'll listen to it first then pass the judgement.

As I said in the review, while I can understand how it fits the concept, music-wise it just doesn't work...

Really good stuff, not as accessible as All Is One but it's really working for me on repeated listens.

I woundn't say this is my favorite album from this band (Mabool still is), but I'm loving it. Not only the music is great, but the concept behind makes it even better. It's pure emotion.

No problem if you don't like OL, but rating 1 is really ridiculous. And not objective.

Giving a "1" to a band you "don't understand" sounds too drastic to me. Don't you think its too low?

Orphaned land is an over rated band always. And this album really sucks. Rating reached 8 just because of their hard-core fan base.

I love this album. It slows down a bit at the middle, but it starts picking up again with Like Orpheus and the second half is on par with Mabool and The neverending way. I'm so glad to see them returning to the heavier gruntier stuff, while also keeping the gentle touching moments of All is one. And I actually like how the beeps fit into the songs.

Therapy?

I've never managed to really get into this band or like it a lot... I don't know exactly what it is. Maybe the oriental sound that gives me the feeling I'm listening to an Aladdin musial, or maybe it's the overly cheesy voice. I dunno. I want to like it but I simply don't, and this album doesn't change that unfortunately.

Although I've always recognised OP's talent and writing skills, I've never been able to enjoy Orphaned land very much for some reason. But this is a really good album. The melodies are catchy, the oriental theme works very well this time. And the vocals are really good. I like the flirts with rapping.
