Their debut is not that far from albums like Godflesh's Streetcleaner... And they certainly have influenced other industrial or sludge metal bands.

Swans is probably the heaviest non-metal band

Even discounting their early industrial period, records like The Great Annihilator and The Seer are heavy as fuck. Obv the band would be invisible, but still it's far too much of an important influence on metal to discount.
