To clarify the situation, here's a breakdown of all discs : - Ghost Harvest 1 and 2 are filled with new songs or covers or reinterpretations, and it's not focused on metal, but rather on blues, ballads, etc... The piano is also the dominant instrument. It could be interesting, although the mixing ain't great, the songs are dragged and rather boring. The main problem is the vocals, tired and way too present and exagerated. All those "yeah!", "roar!", "humf!" sound terrible, and would also sound terrible in a metal context. - Gothic Voodoo Anthems is ... appalling. The singing is bad. I mean, it was already in the previous ones, but the effects applied on the voice are even more unbearable. The mixing is bad. The "orchestral version" is a lie since there's just piano and synth and a slight of midi drums, everything sounds so empty ; Maybe the idea is debatable, but it's execution is a total wreckage. I mourn the old songs they butchered. example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HHbsi80Uf4 (I WIll Come For You - GVA ver.) - Hymns To Glory and The Book Of Burning are just compilations, nothing to be excited about, but in this special case they're a real cure after the 3 other CDs I cannot understand how this band that I love and which proved many times they're able to write excellent songs, being metal or not, could release this as a "35th Anniversary" album. Just why ?? how ??
