Sounds like a back to roots thing? I for one totally don't mind.

Hopefully this one won't rip my heart out like the last one. Song titles look like dark moor songs. Hoping that's a good sign

Ars Musica was tame and half baked, the last one was excruciating MOR radio-friendly fare... they really need to get back to basics for me, if I'm going to buy this.
----
First gig was Manowar (loincloths 'n' all), Bristol Colston Hall in March 1983, on the 'Hail to England' tour. Tickets were £3.75, 300 in the audience, Mercyful Fate never showed, but my hearing still got seriously trashed..

Based on the songs released so far (on their Pledge page) it's going to be more of the Project X kind of stuff... Unfortunately...

it is not a good album , i listened to it ..
it is similar to Ars Musica with some Folk elements ( just to add the feeling of there is something new ! )
sadly , Dark Moor has lost their talent ... and the recent albums are horrible

That's right .
it seems that Dark Moor has lost their talent .
no more classical \ mozart style in singing , no more melodic power metal music like in Tarot and Autumnal albums !
they keep making radio friendly songs .. that's horrible

Dark Moor has lost their talent .
no more opera \ classical vocals , no more mozart solos , no more orchestrations !
they keep making soft radio friendly music in a bad way !!!!

Lost their talent? man, you are totally wrong. they just changed their style, but that is no bad! I love all their records from their selftitled album onward (actually I dont like their female vocalist singing at all). Project X was great! different, but really great. what I dont like is beating around the same bush all over again...

For so many PM fans, not to do PM is "losing the talent"...

That's just being unfair to the choices of the musicians to do their music. Nobody ever could say to da Vinci or Dali how to draw their masterpieces...

Not me! They're still very talented, but I'm a huge symphonic metal fan and Dark Moor used to be one of my favorite symphonic metal bands. Since Project X they've shifted more into the hard rock territory, which just isn't my cup of tea. I'm still looking forward to this new album. I'll probably enjoy it as much as I enjoy Project X. Meaning I'll enjoy it a lot less than any of their earlier work. 😁

Update:
Listened to the album twice now and as expected it's not really for me. Some of the songs are pretty catchy but overall it just doesn't do it for me. This doesn't say anything about the quality of the music! Just how much I enjoy it. Production sounds pretty decent. Vocals similar to Project X. It just never really seems to rock!
The album does have a nice folksy sound to it. And For Ever is a nice symphonic, albeit somewhat mellow song. I also like Birth of the Sun and Raggle Taggle Gypsy is fun. The rest kinda just blended together for me. For now I'm going to give it a 6,5/10.

Is it just me or does Birth of the Sun sound suspiciously similar to this?

I miss the old singer from The Gates of Oblivion and Hall of Olden Dreams, not to mention they have departed from the sound of those releases. Just not as epic as those times :'(

Kamelot, in flames, within temptation.... and now even dark more
such a shame so many bands are selling out and turning pop, lame and cheesy

Definitely better than Project X, at least it sounds like they're trying with these folk elements.

The things we must read

If Dark Moor were "sold out" then they would be as rich as Mägo de Oz, a thing that has never happened. C'mon, they just have changed their style, and that DOESN'T IN FACTO MEAN TO SELL THEMSELVES OUT. Please, don't be so moronly prejudiced about the way bands change their musical direction
