This split could actually end up being one of the best albums next year, the Hell/Mizmor split comes to mind. The primitive man song so far is good. Cant wait to hear the Hell song...

Full thing here.

Primitive Man's side takes heavy to a level I've rarely seen, which sadly makes Hell's side seem amusingly pallid in comparison, good vocals aside.

Oh man is the contrast between the two sides gigantic. Hell is good and all but coming after that Primitive Man side that honestly spat right into my asshole, it's like some softcore stuff

Lol. It doesn't help that the guitars on Hell's side have that recorded in a cardboard tube sound about it. PM's side sounds like it broke through the earth's crust and is playing out of some demonic nether realm.

Great, that someone else finally arrived here I guess you tried to summon me guys as not many else listen to Hell here. Pears are sweet, lemon is sour.

Compare these below which both are awesome albums, is it heaviness that makes both these bands so good?

Both those albums are good for similar reasons, one of which is heaviness. The Hell track in this split is good, but on its own. Put right after the PM tracks it feels odd and weak. I think this wouldve been better if the PM side came afterwards, as it wouldve served both justice.

Sure, 2017 Hell was heavy but their overall disc isnt, I think heaviness is more of a characteristic for PM, Hell brings elegance and melancholy, Primitive Man heavy power anger sludge. At the moment I prefer PM here as the blackish parts are stunning, but my guess is that the riff(ing) on the Hell side will grown on me - I would never call it odd and weak as its typical Hell and I am a big fan. Its gonna be interesting to see if this will end up the best sludge this year - probably.
