I've always considered it one of the most underrated/overlooked black metal albums ever. Sure it sounds very raw and immature like every debut bm album of early 90s, but at the same time I would never compare it to any ordinary album of the genre. It has something special and fascinating, something that the band has never managed to repeat, neither with the following "Blood Ritual", the only Samael album which is similar to this in terms of mood/atmosphere and style. Dunno, but I love this kind of doomy, creepy black metal.

Mucho...agreedo? Seriously though, sometimes I feel like the only person who really likes this album. The doomy, creepy adjectives are more than appropriate, and I think that's what drew me in from the first listen. Great stuff.

This is my favourite by them to be honest and only then number two and three and number four less and after that they suck.
Even to this day Woship Him is one hell of a creepy album. You have no idea how it came across for when I first heard it at the time of release and also how creepy they were live back then.

I honestly can't imagine. I mean, I listened to this album when I was 16. And that was after hearing a lot of other black metal and whatnot and it was still creepy. But back when it was released I guess this kind of extreme metal wasn't exactly running rampant around the world.

I'm surprised it didn't leave you traumatized.

why do you think I am still single at 43 and in possession of a big beer belly and surround myself with vinyl, cd's and cassettes and books on metal?

You know I never took into account your oddities being a factor of being new to music like this when it was first released. Everything makes so much more sense now.

Exactly. You have any idea how I reacted when I first heard Mercyful Fate's demos back in the days? Or the No Life Till Leather demo by Metallica back then? Th impact of such new music at the time of its release is so much more than how younger people will perceive it when they first hear it cause it's been around for such a long time already.

You have my sympathies Marcel. You and everyone else who was but young and innocent when first being exposed to the likes of new extreme metal.

I am still more or less glad I was never exposed to the first Black Sabbath album at the time that came out
