Just had the opportunity to listen to this EP. Yes, I'm Delain fan even since the amenity and I'm to exactly impartial, but, oh boy this band knows how to evolve. Musically this is the most interesting songs they are made to date. A lot of experiments, some djentish guitar riffs, a lot of growls and those amazing and edgy Charlotte vocal lines. Last two albums proved, that Delain finally found their own path, but this is a huge step forward. Now I'm super intrigued to hear the full album later this year.

Fantastic production and a great evolution of their sound, more complex but still catchy! What stops it from being more than "very good" IMO is that This Silence Is Mine feels like half a song. It starts off with an awesome piano & guitar hook (sounds a lot like something from Scale The Summit) but then it doesn't really go anywhere. With it only being 2:38 mins long it could have really benefited from a 1-2 min up-tempo mid-section that revisits the hook. As it stands it's kinda wasted potential, maybe it'll be fleshed out in the LP?

I thought the same with "The Monarch" from Moonbathers. I would absolutely love to hear Delain do a longer, more complex song because the potential is there!
