In theory, Haunt tick a lot of boxes that would make me jump at the chance to listen to any of their recorded output; guitar-driven music that pays homage to traditional heavy metal of the past with a good singer behind the microphone? All the boxes are ticked off, and yet the band's debut Burst Into Flame leaves you wondering how something can set itself up so well yet miss the target by such a wide margin.

This album imo was the best album in 2018. I saw Haunt live and I gotta say, this band is fucking great. Your good old classic heavy metal.

The riff melodies on here are fantasic, and have a certain unpredictability about them, unfortunately the guitar tone is too fuzzy for me and let's down the quality of the guitarwork, and the production has slightly ruined the overall sound for me. I also find the vocals too soft, they are good but not really my thing for this type of heavy metal, they're definitely more suited fir hard rock imo.
