Doesn't appear to be on their bandcamp... and I'm too lazy to look elsewhere. Anyone want to tell me where I can go to give this a listen?

Loving the bleak atmosphere... It seems pretty simple but quite effective in conveying a cold, malevolent, doomed feeling.
Maybe it's just me not being able to understand the difference between genres, but how is this not classified as atmospheric black metal rather than just black metal? Am I missing a key distinction that makes this black metal album, though laden with dark atmosphere, unable to be classified as atmospheric black?

I've, for a pretty long time now, found the "atmospheric" thing a bit silly as anything can be atmospheric to different people. I suppose the whole atmos thing came about when post-rock started getting liberally added to black metal and things started getting a bit less grim and more shimmery and sweet. It's pretty arbitrary though I think. Personally I think ambient black metal suits this a bit better because of the fuzz, but then that might confuse people into thinking there's ambient music here, which there isn't.
If you've never listened to it you should look into Xasthur as this is basically carrying that on (I'd recommend To Violate The Oblivious and Telepathic With The Deceased).

Great album but I think they should have cut at least 7 minutes of the two last ambient tracks.

Listening to this again, this is a lot better than I initially thought (and I already thought it was pretty good). May have to adjust my rating.
EDIT: yeah, literally the only thing that would keep me from rating this a nine is the fact that the last two tracks meander way too much and are unjustifiably long. But I'll just pretend those don't exist, so a 9 rating it is.

Still think the last 2 ambient tracks are quite unnecessary. Hopefully the new album will have less of those.
