It has been stated many times that we're not about to feature every single metal band that has ever existed. Usually we only add already accomplished bands with at least one full-length release. Still, many bands escape our attention, so it's up to you to tell us which of them are the most worthy of being featured on Metal Storm.
Bands listed here are suggested for addition by our users. You can vote for these bands as well as provide additional comments - both of which will be taken into account when we look for the next band to feature on Metal Storm. If the band is not in the list, you can suggest it here (you need to be a registered member).
Make sure you also check the Blacklisted bands - these are the bands we're not going to add at all, since we feel they won't be appropriate for this website. Yes, some non-metal bands are already featured here, but that's not the reason to add a lot more - so we don't accept arguments like "hey, this band is way more metal than band X you have featured!".

In the Autumn of 2008, CHAOS IN PARADISE started taking their first steps in a small garage in Oporto suburbs, where Alex and Quik began to outline the identity of the band.
After a few days, they started searching for other musicians to complete CHAOS IN PARADISE and after a while they found Pedro for guitar, 19 for bass and Sara for the vocal parts.
With the band as a whole, the quintet began writing their first Demo which came out in February 2010, including the songs "Dawn", "Heading North", "The Meaning of Being Imposed" and "Antagonized".
The band recorded the Demo at their own studio and released and distributed the four songs online for free!
After, CHAOS IN PARADISE began their live shows through Portugal, to promote their work and also to obtain experience as a band.
In the beginning of 2011, the band returned to the rehearsal room to start writing their following work, trying a new aproach to improve their sound, bringing their own identity to it and making it more coherent.
With the pre-production on the bagage, the recording sessions of the EP started in March 2011 at Soundvision Studios in Vila do Conde with Paulo Lopes in the co-production.
From the EP entitled "Let the Bliss Remain" the band released their first single "Awareness" to the fans and press, aquiring unanimous opinions expressing that their evolution and sound quality had a huge improvement.
With the "Let the Bliss Remain" presentation and release in June 2011, CHAOS IN PARADISE came back to the road to promote their EP in Portugal, having already some International shows in mind.
At the moment, they're planning to edit their first album in 2012.

Needs at least one full length.

Ugh those weak screams...a better vocalist would be a huge improvement.

Side project of AAL frontman Tosin Abasi and members of The Mars Volta and Suicidal Tendencies. Not the most metal sound in the world, but there are clear metal undertones. Interesting art!

Wouldn't call them djent but yeah interesting stuff.
31.03.2012 - João Pirucas
This is much more Jazz Fusion than Djent but it's awesome nonetheless. That connotation is there just because Tosin and Javier are part of the band, in my opinion. Good addition to the site anyways. +1

Insense deserves to be on Metal Storm because they are not much known outside of norway. Insense is a fantastic bands and should be heard by so many others than just norwegians that are interested in that kind of music.
The vocalist/guitarist Tommy Hjelm also plays with Benea Reach sometimes

It has been a while since being really blown away from a new discovery.
ProFusion is a bit hard to categorize, combining Progressive Metal riffs, Eclectic stuff a la Beardfish, and catchiness like, well... It just gets stuck in your mind and won't go away.
I've yet to have listened to their first album, but their second one (Rewotower) has really blown me away.
The first song of the album (Ghost House) is available on their Reverbnation page.

I'm just not impressed with bands like this these days...all this type of prog is the same. Sounds like watered down DT...

Ace Of Hearts is a "supergroup" with members of Secret Sphere, Icon & the Black Roses and Odd Dimension, his debut album "Monster" is a MUST for the fans of the genre!

Because this band will blow your mind. its like Amon Amarth but with clean-ish vocals. The vocalist makes the band... majestic. After only watching their official video, i immediately fell in love with their style. If you like Amon, Ensiferum, Enslaved, and fucking awesome vocals, this band is for you!! \m/

It's kinda rare to see a band with old influences nowadays. And, to be honest, I think that what they say about rock'n'roll is true:
"ROCK'N'ROLL IS NOT ABOUT TECHNIQUES AND 32-NOTES-A-SECOND SOLOS, IT'S ABOUT TOUCHING PEOPLE WITH YOUR MUSIC".

"Sår" (Sar) is a solo project in Depressive Suicidal Black Metal (DSBM) genre which started in 2008 by its only member "Don Andolini" in the north of Iran. The word "Sår" has been taken from one of the Sortsind's song titles with the same name, and it means "Wounds" in English.

Imagine a combination of English hardrock from the 70´s with American AOR, add a blues singer who really sings from the soul, five competent instrumentalists and last but not least, a top class producer.

Joel Grind is best known for his work in Toxic Holocaust. Similar to that band, his solo act plays in a retro-extreme style, but instead of the Black/Thrash of Sodom he plays more in the vein of Venom and early Bathory. He released 'The Yellowgoat Sessions' in 2013 and it's a great throwback album. Highly recommended.

Melodic Black Metal band from the USA formed in 2011 with one album out already. The band features several members of Aether Realm and Inferi. Fantastic mix of melodic black metal, progressive metal, post metal with accoustic passages. If you like bands like Agalloch, listen their album on their bandcamp page, you won't regret it.

They say it takes truly outstanding musicians to turn a good composition into an excellent song. Having said that: even brilliant artists need a first-rate original to allow their mastery to shine in its full glory. In other words: you need both, superior song material and exceptional musicians. Following the successful realisation of his debut album Let´s Get Ruthless (2009), which featured a wide range of renowned metal stars, René Thomsen, owner of a company called BRS (Backline Rental Service) and guitarist, composer and bandleader, has repeated this superb combination on his second release, Unbroken! Including bona fide world stars as guests, such as Udo Dirkschneider, Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio, Heaven & Hell), Bobby Jarzombek (Halford, Fates Warning, Sebastian Bach, Riot), David Vincent (Morbid Angel), Mathias Don Dieth (U.D.O.), Andre Hilgers (Rage, Sinner) and Helge Engelke (Fair Warning, Dreamtide), who have lent not only their technical skills but also glamour to the material. Not forgetting to mention Thomsen's impressive live band, which will accompany him on his tour of Germany from autumn 2014. But more about that later.
Bandleader René Thomsen has composed a total of twelve new songs for Unbroken, most of them together with Fair Warning producer and guitarist Helge Engelke. "I've known Helge since the eighties when we shared a rehearsal room," Thomsen remembers. "Ever since, I've known that he is the perfect co-songwriter and producer for my music. He's got that unusual musical sense that Unbroken has thoroughly benefitted from."
The roles of the guest musicians were allocated on the basis of the recordings which Thomsen and his group (Robert Soeterboek/vocals, Ingo Lühring/bass, Mike Pesin/guitar, Max Dietzmann/drums) cut: Thomsen's long-standing friend David Vincent (Morbid Angel) played bass on 'Draw The Curtains'. Vinny Appice was the drummer of Thomsen's dreams for 'We Made It', which he wrote during the night following Ronnie James Dio's death in remembrance of that great American rock singer. The song's guitar solo and its intro 'Six Thirteen 64' were written by Mathias Dieth in direct collaboration with René Thomsen. Dieth also came up with the idea of asking his friend and erstwhile colleague Udo Dirkschneider to record the vocals. It would have been impossible to perform this number in a style more charismatic than Dirkschneider's.
Thomsen is particularly proud of Bobby Jarzombek's contribution to 'Draw The Curtains', 'New Horizon', 'Unbroken' and 'Fools of Fortune'. "I've known Bobby since recording Let´s Get Ruthless, so all it took was a phone call to sign up this exceptional drummer's services for Unbroken." Just as uncomplicated as enlisting Rage skinsman André Hilgers, who recorded the impressive drum parts on 'Dream', 'Break That Spell', 'Into The Unknown' and 'In Steel We Trust'. The fact that Hilgers is not only "a fantastic drummer, but also a really nice guy" (quote Thomsen) was of course conductive to the Unbroken project. The album was produced by René Thomsen, Helge Engelke and Arne Neurand, a team with great visions and the technical skills to translate these visions into reality. They have a work-intensive and occasionally difficult production process behind them: "That's the reason for the album title Unbroken," Thomsen explains, "because life is about not letting adverse circumstances get you down but holding on to your dreams and carrying on."
And now let's get back to the above-mentioned live band which is set to accompany Thomsen on stage later this year. A new addition is vocalist Denis Brosowski (Iron Fate), who can also be heard on the Unbroken tracks 'One' and 'Tears Of The Sun', the latter a live-recording of a stage rehearsal. Brosowski has succeeded Dutchman Robert Soeterboek (Ayreon, Star One) in Thomsen's band and is considered one of germany's strongest metal vocalists by insiders. "We are happy to have found a superlative singer in Denis, who also happens to live close by," comments Thomsen on his new lead vocalist.
So from now on, it's flawless power metal again, with a first-class band surrounding mastermind René Thomsen and Unbroken, his second audiolicious album, featuring lots of illustrious guests again as the icing on the cake.

Because his music is fantastic. :P Probably not notable enough in the metal community, but he's notable within the brony music scene, and his debut album topped the bandcamp rock charts for a while. His next album will apparently have more progressive metal oriented sound.

You might recognize this band as Peach, but they've changed their name since then. They are notable for their relationship with Tool, where Justin Chancellor was originally a member of this band, they supported the band, and Tool covered one of their songs, "You Lied", and released it on "Salival".
19.09.2014 - Ganondox
Because while they are primarily not a metal band, they are still one of the key pioneers to alternative metal, and can be considered metal in that respect. They are such an extremely influential band that it seems silly not to have them here.

The Braunschweiger band Booze Control stands for Heavy Metal, how to get rarely hear him in the 21st century: honest, loud and sharp as a knife! Heavy Metal is also called their latest album and the name says it all. Whether sweeping leads, brutal riffing or screams that break down the boxes, Booze Control have it all! Currently, the band booked a tour for 2014, on the new album to be promoted.
In founding the band in September 2009, the date for the first live show is already fixed. A training phase does not exist. The following are more successful open-air shows, including with Destruction and Schandmaul. The show will be enthusiastically received by fans of classic heavy metal, and is the organizer of a genre free festivals apparently so much too loud, that this short hand - despite live broadcast of a local television station - the last song removing power.

In 2010 Tommy (vocals) and Potti (drums) decided to grab the bull by the horns. They wanted to start a fresh-sounding, heavy, yet melodic metal band - the idea of Premortal Breath was born.
Still missing guitarists and a bassist, the two started their quest for fellow musicians. A first line-up was complemented by Armin (guitar) and Tobias (bass) and started working on new songs right away. In October 2010 the bunch entered the Beat-House Studio in Rauenberg/Germany where they recorded two of their songs (Mind over matter/Your ruin).
Still lacking a second guitarist Tobias switched from bass to guitar, a wise decision, as shortly after guitarist Armin left the band due to personal issues. Luckily a new bassist was found quite easily in Sebastian. Without intermission they continued to rehearse and push their songwriting, while looking for a second guitarist. Innumerable, fruitless auditions later guitarist David joined the band, being the missing piece. But shortly after the bands line-up changed once again - David left the band to pursue his own musical ideas. The band being fed up with auditions Sebastian stepped up to the challenge and filled in as second guitarist. Recruiting a bassist was kind of a no-brainer, as first applicant Dominik convinced on all levels. So that's it in a nutshell.
We love to share our music, so catch us on one of our gigs and spread the word!
