Personal information

Born on: 24.05.1979

My musical path started in Kiev, Ukraine, where I was born. Accepted to a Musical School at the age of 5, I began playing the violin. A year later I started playing piano and singing in children's choir and that's how it all started. My grandmother contributed to my love of singing by teaching me many children's songs and encouraging to write poems.

Shortly after my graduation from Musical School in 1994, my family moved to the United States. As I got busier with studying, music had to be put on hold. During my college years I took vocal lessons from a friend who was graduating with a music degree and had a great classical vocal training. These lessons encouraged me to seek more professional vocal training.

After graduating from college in 2001 and coming back to New York City, some of my friends introduced me to various metal genres and styles. I started going to more live concerts and listening to such bands as Helloween, Kamelot, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Angra, and others.

At the same time, I was invited to audition for a thrash metal band. It was an interesting combination with my vocals but I felt that ultimately I really would like to be involved in a power metal project. Still, I got a great start at performing live and recording a demo with that band.

In 2002, together with another musician friend Yuri (our drummer), who was also interested in the same kind of musical project, I met Bill (our guitarist) and that's how Operatika was born.

Soon after that I started taking professional vocal lessons. They have taught me a lot and encouraged me to pursue my own sound and style of singing. I am thankful for this special talent and happy that now I can give even more to Operatika and its music.
