Biography

Persefone is a band located in a small country called Andorra and it was formed in October 2001. The band covered the likes of Arch Enemy, In Flames, and Dark Tranquillity in the beginning, but soon felt the necessity to go further. Carlos, Jordi, Toni and Xavi (ex-drummer) were the band's founding members in 2001. Later in 2002 the band added keyboardist Miguel to the ranks.

They began working on material which led to the first Persefone song: "Niflheim (The Eyes That Hold The Edge)". It was the first idea of how the way of the band would be: melodic, complex and aggressive. Once the song was finished they began working on more material in order to create a demo. The concept of the album was the five soul illnesses combined with the transition from life to death. As a result, Persefone recorded a six-track demo that eventually became an LP thanks to the help of Claus Jensen and Intromental Management. Truth Inside The Shades became a reality, recorded at Orion Studios and mastered by Peter in de Betou for Taylor Maid Productions.

Some gigs were scheduled and there were some changes in the line-up. Xavi left the band and some months later Aleix Dorca, producer of the band, took over the vacancy. Besides, vocalist Carlos departed and Marc Martins replaced him. After this, Truth Inside The Shades was released worldwide through Soundholic Records in Japan, CD-Maximum in Russia and Baltic States, and Adipocere Records in Europe and the United States.

After the release of their debut, the band sat down and decided to begin the new album project. This time the band went further, recording a huge project with three songs more than 20 minutes long each. Core relates the story of the Greek goddess Persephone. As with the band's debut, Core was produced at Orion Studios with top-notch mastering by Peter in de Betou.

In 2007 Marc Mas Marti joined the band as a full time drummer, while two years later the band released their latest full-length album, Shin-ken.
