Biography

Aisling?"dream-like vision"??.Celtic metal band where symphonic elements are mixed with sonorities mindful of the black metal, more sensitive to pagan feelings that recall ancient visions and emotions.
Aisling [ashlig = dream-like vision] is a name of celtic origin chosen to represent our musical dimension.
Our city, Trieste, has been founded around 500 B.C. by the celtic tribe of the Carni Càtali and not withstanding that more then 2000 years have passed, we feel a strong bond with the traditions, the mentality, and specially with the spirituality of our ancestors. Our "dream-like vision" helps us to reach the roots of the pagan culture, to believe in the irresistible and destabilizing power of Nature and to stimulate our fantasy to evade from this fake reality.

Our first album is not casually titled "Aisling", 'cause it represents the artistic continuity of an evolutionary process (which started with the first demo), directed to express in a more elevated manner the complexity and the depth of our emotions. What our work represents is this complexity of opposed emotions, veiled by an aura of sombre pagan fatalism. In this process, different states of the individual sensibility are meeting with the cosmic evolutions, in a cyclic view. Our ambition is to preserve, in this era of decadence, a spirituality in harmony with Nature, source of visions and sensations.

The essence of this concept is the endless alternation between life and death, a lively reflex of a destiny deep-rooted with the ancient wisdom of populations like the celtic one. So this is a vision firmly opposed to the apocalyptic theory in vogue these days, heritage of a foreign sub-culture, imposed by the official religious institution, ready to exploit the fears and the insecurities of the human beings.
We also refuse the concept of "good" and "bad" as two different worlds bringers of anthitetical values.
We invoke the destruction and the regeneration, daughters of the same Mother, to subvert the already corroded equilibriums and to bring new eternal cosmic forces, that from the beginning are following their unstoppable course, ignoring the vain anthropocentric pretensions of our microcosm.

The melancholic mood dominates us, due to the consciousness that people are no longer able to feel the emotions of the past. We face the destiny challenging the new aurora that is going to be born on the still smoking ruins of the old decayed order?.

Aisling was formed in early '98 thanks to Cernunnos (rhythm guitar) and Abred (voice),
In short time the band achieved a solid line-up, that included also Annwn (drums) and Gwynfyd (solo guitar).

In the summer of '99 Imbolc (bass) joined the band and in short time started the recordings started of the first demo. Before the end of the recordings the band reached its final formation with the arrival of Cythrawl on the keyboards.
In December of the same year the demo came out in a number of 200 copies (soon sold-out) with the title "Endless Cycle", which evidenced Aisling's adhesion to a cyclic existential conception, typical of pagan religions. Few months later, caused by musical divergences, Abred left the band and he was replaced by Ildanach. Here started a new stylistic course for the band, now fully focused to canalise the numerous musical influences.
For two years Aisling renounced to live activities in order to compose new songs. In the summer of 2001 they started to record what will become their first (self-produced) album titled "Aisling". As soon as they finished the recordings Gwynfyd left the band for personal reasons and the lack of attitude affinity with the other members. After the release of the album Cromm (solo guitar) joined the band.

In the summer of 2002 Sidh replaced Ildanach becoming the new singer of the band; in the autumn of the same year Aisling started the recording sessions of the new mini CD. Finally in April 2003 is out "Trath Na Gaoth", the new mini cd of the band that has been produced by the label EBS. Many people figure as special guests on the songs of "Trath Na Gaoth". Unfortunately the promotion started only in the beginning of 2004. During the spring of the same year Imbolc and Cythrawl were fired by Aisling while Annwn decided to left the band; so Cernunnos decided to continue only with Sidh and Cromm. In summer Aisling signed with Einheit Produktionen and a new line up was completed because Digal (drums), Arth (bass) and at last Gwynfyd (this time playing keyboards) rejoined the band.
