Biography
Fear My Thoughts formed in 1997. Originating from the same area that brought forth Destruction, Celtic Frost, Evereve and other well-known bands, their aim in creating extreme music appeared just normal. After their first self-produced demo and record "Sapere Aude", Fear My Thoughts started changing their style from old school influenced metal to a more experimental approach.
Being very determined, not limited to any border, the musical pulp combined everything from straightforward hardcore riffs to very technical metal. The band also made habit of including acoustic passages and harmonious melodies. The next two albums "23" and "Vitriol" were released on Let It Burn Records. The releases of these two albums were accompanied by two tours through Europe.
The release of the split album with Fear Is The Path To The Dark Side marked a change in the band's musical orientation. It was now more than obvious that the journey would go back to the metal roots every member possessed. With each record the music grew tighter and more technical. The influences were drawn from a wide variety of music; meanwhile, the band's performances were played with more focus and determination.
Although Fear My Thoughts' style was strongly influenced by thrash and death metal, it sets itself apart from other acts that play within the confines of the two genres. Between Patrick and Markus's original riffs and Norman's highly technical style of drumming, the band was hard to strictly classify. The voice of singer Mathias had changed throughout time, from shrieking screams to a mix of growls, black metal shrieks and singing.
With their Lifeforce debut album "The Great Collapse", the band was sure to get international recognition and gained a lot of positive feedback. The latest release "Hell Sweet Hell" brought another boost to their career. With very good rankings in Rockhard, Metalhammer, Legacy, and other important magazines, more people were made aware of the band's well-developed skills. Fear My Thoughts knew how to combine real authentic aggression and sweet melodies to produce a very special mixture that captivated fans from across the world.
With more than 300 shows played all over Europe, Fear My Thoughts furthermore gained experience and a very solid worldwide fan base. Not only their music, but the members' very odd responses during interviews made Fear My Thoughts a very special and unique act.
Unfortunately for fans of the band, Fear My Thoughts have made an official announcement regarding the band's lack of a future in the metal scene. On November 25, 2009, the band posted an update on their MySpace Blog that revealed their final show to be played in Lörrach in mid-February, 2010, after which the members have decided to continue their musical paths with other projects.
