Biography

The Rock group Epizod is formed in 1988 at the 'Emil Shekerdjiiski' Popular House of Culture.
The first songs of the group were on texts by the French classic Francois Villon. For a period of only 6 months in 1989 Epizod gains popularity with its concerts under the form of a Rock-Theatre. They use pantomime, a church choir, ballet. For its first appearance at the National rock festival in Vidin, the group is awarded the Grand Prix. TV shows follow, then a strong participation at Academic Stadium, then comes concert in Universiada Hall. This is the first concert after the democratic changes in Bulgaria that has gathered in one place multi thousand audience and meeting the European standards of mass attraction. This concert however found the newly born press unprepared and it was not duly reflected, though the next concert, held again in Universiada Hall is reviewed in all big Bulgarian newspapers and the first issue of "168 Chasa" newspaper comes out with Epizod picture on the title page. After this concert the group records its debut album 'Pray'. Besides all specialized home media, the German 'Berliner Music Arhiv'journal also publishes a representation made by prof. Rosemary Statelova.
In October 1990, the English BBC television films the concert of Epizod at the National Palace of Culture, followed by another concert in Universiada Hall, organized and broadcast by the Bulgarian National Television, director Dimiter Sharkov.

The group records its second album 'Dead among dead' on poems by Charles Baudelaire and Francois Villon in 1992. The album was presented in two parts by the Bulgarian National Television.
This concludes the first phase of Epizod as the vocalist Dimiter Argirov and his family move to Milan, Italy, and the pianist Rossen Doychinov moves to Canada.

The group continues its work in 1996 with a new vocalist, Emil Chendov. After two years of work the group realizes that the French classics are not up to date alany more. They lose fans and register weak media presence.

In 1998 Epizod release th e album Respect on texts by the group guitarist Dragomir Draganov , producer 'Poly Sound'.the album passes well on the music market, its sound is up-to-date and the group tours the country intensively.
In 2000 Epizod terminate any public apperanace and with the assistance of FSB Studio(Ivaylo Kravchovski and Ivan Lechev) they create the album 'The Bulgarian God'. The songs are written on poems by the Bulgarian classic poets Ivan Vazov and Hristo Botev. The interest towards the first recorded songs is considerable. The Bulgarian National TV includes the song 'Haidouks' on a poem by Hristo Botev ine the 2001 New Year's Eve show, in the last moment. This is followed by the 30 minute film 'Fire for Today' broadcast on the National Day - 3rd of March 2002, by the BNT.

Since 2nd of June 2002, Orfei Nusic distributes the album'The Bulgarian God' on the music market. Up to now this is the most sold rock-album for 2002. For the success of the album contribute the voices of the folk singers Father Andon, Daniela Velichkova, the 120year old Kristina Yaneva, a children's choir and the Ioan Kukuzel Choir. In 2003 Epizod release the album'Time has come' after texts of the French classic poets Francois Villon, Roget de Claurie and Pierre de Ronsard , the Englsh Kurt Vonnegut and the Bulgarian Peyo Yavorov. In this period the title drummer of the group Stoyan Petrov moves to another business and is substituted by Hristo Gyosharkov. In 2004 Epizod release the album 'Male Songs' where the texts are by the classic poet Hristo Botev. The album fulfills for the first time the old dream to include several Bulgarian folk sings in rock arrangement. The cult instrumental folk song '100 mild bagpipes' is also included. The album successfully passes through the musical market an then the group records the first DVD at a concert in Hall 2 of the NHC on 19.02.2004. This TV product was broadcast by all major cable operators in the country as well as by the BNT on 06.05.2004. The group makes a record number of concerts in the country, By the end of 2004 Epizod release their Rock Opera 'Saint Patriarch Evtimii' on texts by Ivan Vazov and Radko Radkov. The promotion of the album is made on 04.09.2004 at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv and on 06.09.2004 in the Tzarevetz Castle in Veliko Turnovo. The concert in Turnovo is held exactly on the spot where the described events took place in 14th century - at the reconstructed palace of old Bulgarian tsars. This concert is filmed with the participation of a church choir, a folklore dance ensemble, as well as of the folk singer Daniela Velichkova and the virtuoso Rossen Genkov who plays the ancient Bulgarian string instrument rebec. The album is excellently met by the Bulgarian music market and the filmed concert is the second DVD of the group. It is officially released on 03.03.2005
