Biography

ANTIQUUS was formed in 2000 by drummer Andrew Bak, bassist Scott Unger and Jeff Dormer. The band recruited vocalist Jesse White and wrote, recorded and released their critically-acclaimed indie record 'Ramayana'. The album was featured in over 60 notable print and web magazines around the world. Soon after completing the first album, Jeff Dormer would take a five year hiatus from the group, and in his place the band took on not one but two guitarists, Trevor Leonard and Geoff Way.

Click to enlargeBetween tour stops on their first national tour, the band negotiated a contract with Cruz Del Sur Music, and the band recorded Eleutheria at Larry Anschell's Turtle Recording. Larry, who has worked with many groups, including Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, mixed the album. Eleutheria was mastered in Gothenburg, Sweden by Goran Finnberg, who has worked on projects for In Flames and Soilwork, amongst many others. In support of the album, ANTIQUUS has had a chance to share stages with other rising stars on the national and international scenes, including Sonata Arctica, SoulScar, Dayglo Abortions and Infernal Majesty.

Trevor has moved on to other things, so Jeff Dormer has returned, and writing for the next record has begun. The next year promises to be the most promising to date for ANTIQUUS. Fans and the media alike will get to hear the band perform across North America and around the world.
