Urfaust started as an ambient project of Vloekwaard (IX / Willem). Although the band is from the Netherlands, the song titles are in German.'Urväterlicher Sagen' was the only ambient release. After that, the sound shifted towards a dark, eerie form of Black Metal. The style and feeling of the music has still some obvious roots in Dark Ambient. Along the way VRDRBR (Nachtraaf) - Drums and Dolen - Orchestra (Gauhaert) joined the band, to complete the unholy trinity.

*The "Urfaust" was Goethe''s unfinished interpretation of the medieval German Faustian tale in prose that later evolved into his masterpiece "Faust."
