Biography

Between dark enchantment and disillusion Markize evaluate in a rock/metal music with pop, symphonic, electro, progressive and dark influences since 2003 - the day the project of Alina Dunaevskaya (vocals, lyrics and keyboards) and David Verbecq (drums), was born. Their music has for purpose to be opened to everybody, modern and based on French, English and even Russian personal lyrics.

After the demo-disc "Poussières de Vie" in 2004, welcomed by critics and public and participation in compilation "Contre Vents et Marées" of French Metal in 2006, their first album "Transparence" was recorded together with Franck Chentrier (guitar), Nicolas Thomas (lead guitar) and Gautier Blondel (bass guitar), and issued in March 2007. The critics (France, Russia, USA, UK) were still very encouraging and the public present.

After series of concerts in France, Belgium and Holland, particularly with the bands like The Old Dead Tree, Cult of Luna, Autumn, Eths or even Watcha, Markize was invited to play at the Metal Female Voices Fest IV in October 2008 in Belgium (Wieze), that assembles every year greatest female fronted metal bands. Later they take part in a compilation "A World of Sirens" (USA) with the track "Another breath".

After a new participation in compilation of French Metal "A Tombeau Ouvert" and further to stock shortage of the first edition of their release, and futher to raising requests, "Transparence" album was reedited with new tracks in March 2009 in France by Underclass and officially distributed in Russia by the label Metal Agen. The band started then a new series of concerts above 40 dates that drove them therefore into the row of leading independent bands of rock/metal French scene.

Today, after having strengthened their experience of their first release and of their tours, Markize is entering in studio for composing and recording their new release with professionals such as Laurent d'Alessio (Aston Villa, Dun Leïa) sound engineer; Mikaël Carissimo, management and executive production (Silt) and Guillaume Mauduit of the Studio Sainte Marthe (AqME, Zuul FX, The Arrs) for mixing and mastering. Issue expected for the beginning of 2011.
