Biography

Hooded Menace was formed by Lasse (Phlegethon, Vacant Coffin) in the summer of 2007. Heavily influenced by early Cathedral, Winter, and Asphyx, the band formed with the intent of playing doom-laden death metal that combined crushing and somber riffs with just a slight hint of melody.

Lyric-wise the band drew inspiration from the classic 1970's Spanish horror series The Blind Dead, including such films as Tombs Of The Blind Dead, Return Of The Evil Dead, Horror Of The Zombies, and Night Of The Seagulls. The name Hooded Menace was chosen by Billy Nocera of Razorback Records.

The band recorded a 2-song promotional demo entitled The Eyeless Horde, and quickly began promoting it to the underground metal community. Pretty soon a Czech label, Doomentia Records, wanted to put out the demo as a 7" EP. The band released their debut album, Fulfill The Curse, in 2008 on Razorback Records.

In 2009 the band was signed to Profound Lore Records and unleashed their much-anticipated sophomore album, Never Cross The Dead in 2010. Also a split 7" EP with Anima Morte was released by Doomentia Records. Split 7" EPs with Coffins and Asphyx are lined up for 2010 as well.

Hooded Menace are looking to spread their music to fans of totally heavy and ultra-crushing doom and old school early 1990's-style death metal.
