Forgotten Sunrise - Biography

Biography

1992 - 1994

Forgotten Sunrise was born in the summer of 1992 as the result of a common interest of Anders (Kuratino / DJ 4-got-10) and Jan to make Death Metal in Estonia. Two friends with previous experiences, Margus and Tarvo, were added and the yet unnamed band had found its beginning.
After six months and first songs, in the summer of 1993 a quality demo "Behind The Abysmal Sky" was recorded. A few months later a contract with a Finnish label "Rising Realm Records" was signed and by the end of the year the "Forever Sleeping Greystones" Mini-CD had been recorded. The minialbum was released in the end of 1994 due to label delays.
A time of a great deal of attention and good concerts continued until the differences caused the drummer and the guitarist to leave the band. The search for new members began...

1996 - 1999

With Renno and Tiiu as the fresh blood in the group, also computers were now a part of the process of making music.
In the meantime the group's style and taste had progressed and in 1996 Forgotten Sunrise basiacally started over from zero. A period of studies and experimenting followed until Forgotten Sunrise was again ready for stage.
In 1997 they thirled the masses with a new sound. Old admirers were startled and didn't quite know what stand to take, for what they heard was all very "all and nothing", novel and unfamiliar.Though old atmospheric Death Metal was mixed with Trip-Hop,Techno,Folk and Drum'n'Bass merged with Shoegazing Indie-Pop, the dreary grim atmosphere and severe message were still intacked.
With a style the group itself called Deathbeat, the first promotional CD was given out in 1999 and a self-released mini-album "a.Nimal f.Lesh" a year later...

2003 -

Then the long-awaited moment dawned upon Forgotten Sunrise: a two album contract was signed with an Italian label "My Kingdom Music". The worthwhile debut album "Ru:mipu:dus" was released in January 2004 and before that a full-length single "Ple:se Disco-Nnect Me" was given out self-reliantly. The legendary LA Industrial horrorfigure Ghost from G.G.F.H. also gave his contribution to the variegated sound of "Ru:mipu:dus" (guest vocal + remix). The album was followed by a very positive and exalting reviews. Concerts were given all over Estonia, also in Latvia, Lithuania, Finland and Poland.
FS has warmed Hocico, Spetsnaz, Dimmu Borgir, Grendel, Atrocity, Leaves' Eyes, Accessory, Katatonia, Moonspell, Mortiis, Destruction, Combichrist, Susperia etc. FS was also chosen as the warm-up performer for Rammstein in Estonia but due to unfortunate events their partake was cancelled.
By now there have been changes in the band line-up, but the style keeps growing and evolving, so only time can tell what the future has to offer.
In 2005 the track "Never(k)now" was given out as a promo single. The second album ?Willand" was recorded in fall 2005 and was released in spring 2007. Later in this year - after some line-up changes and lot of gigs - "Different Knots of Ropelove" - 12 track golden remix CD (including remixes by Alec Empire, Pehr Herb, Darkmen etc.) was released.
