Biography

Edgend began its activity in 2005 as a heavy power metal band with a neo-classical touch and symphonic composing. The name Edgend is a combination between the words "edge" and "end", meaning the sharpest point of the blade. At the end of 2006 the band recorded a demo entitled Attached By Insanity with their former vocalist. A year later [bandEdgend[/band] had the honor of opening for progressive metal band Evergrey in Tel Aviv. In that show Rami Salmon made his first appearance with Edgend. He later joined Edgend's line-up and added a new dimension to the sound in many aspects.

In 2008 the band started working on A New Identity, which led to sending Kevin Codfert samples of the music. He liked the material and agreed to produce A New Identity. With his experience in producing two albums of Adagio and other bands such as Venturia and Myrath, the choice to bring him on as producer was an easy one. Maor Appelbaum, who mastered albums for Yngwie Malmsteen, Rob Halford and David Eleffson (ex-Megadeth) also handled the mastering of A New Identity. The cover art was designed by Aborted front man Sven de Caluwé. The album was released through Nightmare Records worldwide.
