Biography

DEKADENT is a representation of individual expression, based on the foundations of extreme metal music. Not limited by any musical genre, the art of DEKADENT does not avoid tasting the beauty and splendor of melody and exploiting it's emotional vastness. It is not corrupted by the ideals of commercialism as it stands true to creativity and originality no matter the mainstream or public criteria.

Debut album Manifestation of Seasonal Bleeding is a collective of 8 songs, created by one of the pioneers of Slovenian black metal scene, Artur Felicijan. The songs combine the open atmosphere of more accessible musical styles and the virtues of black metal composition. Furious demonic metal soundtrack with ethereal ambiance is leaded by aggressive and hard hitting vocals which are challenged by the placid yet energetic female vocal contribution from Valentina Lacovich. As the music is wrapped in emotional tunes, the words are being covered by impressive lyricism (partly written in native Slovenian language).

The album was already presented to the press and got very good and supportive reviews.

Manifestation of Seasonal Bleeding was released on September the 18th 2006 via Swiss black metal label SMP. The CD also featured two exclusive video tracks for the songs "Vigred" and "Dissident Dream". Both videos were directed and shot by Andra? Sedmak and Artur Felicijan.

In November 2006, DEKADENT's line-up was finally complete, consisting five core members: Artur Felicijan on vocals & guitars (and other instruments on studio recordings), Andra? Krpič on drums & percussion, Bo?tjan Ivančič on live rhythm guitar, Andrej Bohnec (ex-Scaffold, ex-Abbatoir) on bass guitar, and Alen Felicijan, as the last joining member, on live keyboards. With additional contribution from female singers, such as Valentina Lacovich (ex-Novo Telo) and Katja Kodelja, the music of DEKADENT is sophisticated portrayal of extreme figure meeting a vacant beautiful spirit.

In early 2008, DEKADENT unraveled their second opus: The Deliverance of the Fall, a vast audio/video work, a lengthily epic story of a unique kind. Released as a double disc with specially designed layout, TDOTF was not only considered a musical but also a visual masterpiece. An extreme epic metal soundtrack accompanied by a 40 minutes plus video of original motion picture material made a redoubtable impression on DEKADENT fans and metal media worldwide. Recognized and proclaimed as a masterpiece of the year 2008, DEKADENT finally engraved themselves onto the wall of immortal bands who protect the sanctity of artistic expression and individuality.

However, with autumn 2008, the band faced first internal changes. DEKADENT parted ways with their bassist Andrej Bohnec in order to pursue a more extreme and demanding music career. Naur (ex-Sinbolic, Neurotech) joined the remaining quartet as the new bass player. With his immense energy and skill the band stands stronger than ever and are already taking town by town with aggressive performances. While as of January 2009, DEKADENT faced yet another important replacement. Garghuf (Enthroned, ex-Gorgoroth, Nefarium) joined the band as the new drummer, thus replacing Andra?, who quit DEKADENT in order to pursue a career in sports. With Garghuf and Naur onboard, Artur began recording DEKADENT's third effort. While Garghuf's participation was full of commitment and passion, he could no longer be of service after studio sessions. After a couple of live events, Garghuf had to leave the DEKADENT camp in order to fully focus on his work with Enthroned. With Alen becoming a father, DEKADENT saw yet another leaving, to which Bo?tjan followed soon with his wish on reviving his old band Incubation. With the new album completed, Artur hired new members to help DEKADENT carry out their music onstage. Typh (ex-Exsilium, Incubation) joined the rest of the crew as the new drummer, while Gajwasz (ex-Sinbolic) took over guitar duties.

DEKADENT finally stands complete with their new album to offer. Venera: Trial & Tribulation is the band's strongest and most dynamic album to date. Counting 12 songs of passion and despair, the album is without a doubt to become a favorite one among their fans.

Awaiting the tomorrow ...
