Biography

Nicole is a Finnish metal band performing in the Finnish language. Nicole was founded in Teuva by Ilkka Laitala, Ville Sahakangas and Iiro Rantanen in 1997. The group released their first full-length album, Odotus, in 2002. Before the album Nicole released 3 CD EPs and 2 Singles. In 2003, the band released Finland's first self-published music DVD, 120 minutes. In 2004, the band released their album Suljetut Ajatukset. The album debuted on Finland's official album chart at number 37.

On January 31, 2007, the band released their third album Sivu Syyttömistä and their second DVD Tasavalta. Tasavalta was number 2 on the DVD list in its release week, Sivu Syyttömistä was number 11 on the official Finnish album chart. On the album Sivu Syyttömä, the band's expression became more brutal again, the clean vocals familiar from previous albums were almost completely absent and influences can be seen more from death metal.

In 2008, Nicole prepared the DVD recording of her ten-year career celebration concert, X. During the break, the band composed their next album. The new X-DVD and Nicole's fourth album Tuomittujen Joukkoon was released in the spring of 2009. The album went to number 13 on the Fnnish album chart, while X went to number one on the official DVD chart.

After the Kumman Kaa tour with Medeia in the spring of 2010, Nicole took a break to work on new material.

The band composed material for more than 2 years and started recording the fifth album at Sonic Pump studio in Helsinki in December 2012 with Mikko Herranen acting as producer.

On September 27, 2013, the album Hävitysen Huoneet was released, which debuted on Finland's official album chart at number 12. In its week of release, the album was the third best-selling album in private record stores.

After the album release tour 2013-2014 the band went into a small hiatus only playing a few show a year until 2017 when they announced a 20th anniversary Tour in the summer. They played only a few shows in 2018 and 2019 and but in 2017 they started recording new songs. It took until 2021 when they finally released a single Illuusio with a music video. During 2018-2019 the band composed over 25 songs to be released in a later date. In Arpil 2023 the band finally announced that they are going back to the studio to start the production of their 6th album with a working title Entropia.
