Crocell - Biography

Biography

Crocell's trademark is organic death metal with tons of raw, Scandinavian power. This formula was vital for Crocell's winning the award as "metal talent of the year" at the Danish Metal Awards (DMeA), for the debut album to be nominated in two categories the following year, for gaining the band a reputation as an impressive live act with top reviews along the way, and for the band to be chosen as a representative of the Danish metal scene at the annual SPOT Festival - among many other things.

Crocell have been very active on the live stages throughout Europe (with two European tours with Gama Bomb and Illdisposed) and in May 2011 the second album, "The Wretched Eidola", was released. Ranging from monumental and gloomy pieces such as the title track through groovy headbangers like "The Age of Iron and Rust" to fast and aggressive death-black songs like "I Know the Taste of Your Tears", "The Wretched Eidola" has a lot to offer any fan of extreme metal without ever straying from the basic formula: melodic and well-written death metal songs.

In 2012 Crocell parted ways with lead singer Magnus Jørgensen and replaced him with Asbjørn Steffensen who also appears in the Danish thrash metal band Mordax. With this new line-up Crocell is currently writing new material for the third album.

Without straying from the fundamental formula, "Come Forth Plague" displays a somewhat more brutal side of Crocell, not least illustrated by fast songs such as "The Dark I Will Inhale", "Servants of Light" and the black metal-like atmosphere of "My Path of Heresy".

Produced in Death Island Studio without triggers and with due respect for the old classic virtues, the album sounds like death metal was meant to sound: dirty, heavy and mean.
"Come Forth Plague" was released through Metal Hell Records in June 2013.

Following the release, Crocell parted ways with guitarist Ken Holst, who was replaced by Rasmus Henriksen (ex-Panzerchrist, ex-Slow Death Factory. ex-DIE, etc.).
