Biography

1997 - The project Ensoph born from the ashes of Endaymynion, a prog-doom band which, in three years of life, has released two demos: "Sonnets Of Inquietude" and "Thy Art". After this first experience, Giuliano (guitar) and Zenone (drums) feel the necessity to blend into a musical project their passion for esotericism, theatre, philosophy and, obviously, gothic culture and sounds.

1998 - Ensoph releases their first MCD, " Les Confessions du Mat", for the Italian label No-Brain Rec. This press is in a very limited edition of 500 pieces. The three tracks that compose this work show the musical way chosen by the band to express its esoteric/philosophical concept, a particular blend of Dark/Ambient and Gothic/Doom Metal with some folk/ethnic influences. The line-up is: Mahavira (male vocals), Patrizia (female vocals), Giuliano (guitars, bass), Leonardo (keyboards, piano, accordion), Zenone (drums, percussions).

The MCD receive good reviews from world wide 'zines and magazines for the freshness of its proposal. To better express the theatrical element of their songs in the live dimension, Ensoph begins a collaboration with the theatrical company Noir. This collaboration gives birth to some special live events during the year.

1999 - The Portuguese label Orofarne Music reprints the MCD in a nice tape version.

2000 - After some changes of line-up the band produces a new promo: "Ananke - The Spyral-Trinity beyond Alpha & Omega". The new male singer is Nicola and the new bass player is Massimo. The new songs present a dark progressive mood and some electronic influences. After the release of the promo there are some new changes of line up: the female singer Patrizia leaves the band and Anna at flute completes the group.

2001 - "Ananke - The Spyral-Trinity beyond Alpha & Omega" gives to the band the chance to reach a deal with Beyond Prod., an Italian label that produces the full length CD "The Bleeding Womb Of Ananke" that is out in June 2001. The first press is of 1000 deluxe digipack CD (with 4 gatefolds cover and 20 pages booklet). The line-up involved in the recording is: Nicola (male vocals), Giuliano (guitars, sampling, programming), Massimo (bass), Leonardo (keys, piano, accordion), Anna (flute - from Paul Chain's band), Zenone (drums, percussions). The debut album is more metal and electronic influenced than the previous works, but presents the same trade-mark sound of all the other releases. The album receives incredible responses all over the world.

2002 - "Bleeding Womb Of Ananke" was licensed by Beyond? to the russian label Irond. The band starts a new intense live activity with the help of Alter Arts Promotion. In the first months of the year the band plans a new promo, called "Sophia", which will contains a remix of Bruno Kramm of Das Ich . The title of the song chosen for the project is "Sophia's Fall". The new promo contains two new tracks ("Sophia's Fall" and "Proudly Divine") and the B. Kramm's remix ("Sophia's Fall - Sophies Welt RX) .
