Biography

Unida is a California band with a rich history featuring many highs and lows. Originally assembled in the fabled low desert surrounding Palm Springs CA in the late 90s by the joining together of former Kyuss vocalist John Garcia, with Arthur Seay ( guitars ) Mike Cancino ( drums ) and Dave Dinsmore (bass).

In 1999, Unida appeared on a MeteorCity split CD release with the Swedish band Dozer, the Unida portion of which was titled The Best of Wayne-Gro. Later that year, they released their debut full-length album, entitled Coping with the Urban Coyote, on Man's Ruin Records.

Entering the 2000's Unida experienced recording sessions with Rick Rubin, via American Records -- and those recordings have achieved mythical status for having never been officially released. It has been available as a bootleg via Youtube. The band would engage in periods of touring, experience numerous hiatuses and undergo various line-up changes. All these occurrences can be read about in more detail at the band's Wikipedia page.

In 2023, Unida is an active band, associated with the stoner rock genre, or desert rock. The current line-up features Arthur Seay (guitars), Mike Cancino (drums), Collyn McCoy formerly of the Ultra Mega Electric Galactic (bass) and Mark Sunshine formerly of Riotgod on vocals.
