Biography

PowerStorm was born on 1st October 2005 in a small city of Astrakhan in south of Russia. Two musicians Dmitriy Shamonov(Ex-Bass, Keyboards, Vocals) and Andrew Timofeyev(Guitars), inspired by works of Nightwish, Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius decided to make their own Power Metal band.

Alina Gafurova was the first singer to join and for that time, the band took a "Nightwish" course. After 3 years of rehearsals and performances at the Rock clubs, the band increased their musical and composers' technics by bringing in some symphonic and progressive elements such as orchestrations. Influences at the time ranged from "After Forever", "Dream Theater", "Rage", "Edenbridge" and "Vanden Plas"

In 2008, PowerStorm was joined by a new Drummer, Nikolay Markin and a new guitarist, Peter "Metalurg" Sukhovinsky. Dmitriy stopped playing bass, continued with keyboards as well as introducing use of grunts. Dmitriy Mosolov joined the band as their new bassist.

In Autumn of 2008 Alina left the band and was replaced by Alexandra Mishanina, a new female vocalist who breathed freshness into the band so much so that the band decided to make their first Demo-EP. In January 2009, the first EP, "The Ocean", debuted. The band then after continued searching for a record label.

In the middle of July 2009, the band released their second EP entitled "One Night". With this saw the departure of one of the founding members as well as guitarist. Andrey Timofeyev. After the release of the EP the band decided to start working on a new album. During the recording process, the band parted ways with Peter Sukhovinsky who was replaced by Michael Guzhvin. The band continues to work on their new album, "Genius and Rose"
