Biography

In summer of 2000 an incident became the start of a band which later was called Avesta. Arash and Shervin were closest friends since the 1st year of High school. Their similar attitude and feelings were the start of their friendship but something happened that made their relationship very powerful. After nearly one year of knowing each other as best friends they noticed that their favorite kind of music is the same too. Listening to Heavy metal, Thrash metal, Hard rock and most of the other styles of rock music became their best similar hobby which they could do together.

Arash had some experiences in playing other musical instruments like Piano, Santoor, Ney, Setar, (which these 3 last instruments are Persian traditional musical instruments) since his was a child and he also was playing Classic Guitar for a year at that time. Shervin was also really interested in playing drums since the beginning of high school, he was always practicing drums with two pens as drums sticks and his boots as pedals in high school. . Arash and Shervin were both in the 2nd year of high school. Shervin had a broken guitar with just 3 strings on which he had it since his childhood. The song "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by "Metallica" was playing in the stereo and they were listening to it. As a habit both Arash and Shervin were playing that song with their imaginary instruments, Arash with the 3 string guitar of Shervin, and Shervin with his pens on his books. So on that time they accidentally noticed that they can play that song together and that was it; the band was formed.

They started to play some cover songs together and after about 9 months they started to make their own songs. Arash duty was writing lyrics and some riffs in a main structure and after that they could make their songs together in their rehearsals together. In the year 2003 their 1st album called "Yaa Marg Yaa Aazadegi" (which it's closest meaning in English is "Liberty or Death") was finished. During making this album Shervin met a boy who was so similar to him musically and they became close friends. His name was Saeed. After a little period of time, Arash and Saeed became close friends too and that made Arash and Shervin to think about Saeed as a bass player. Although Arash and Shervin both never had a teacher for guitar and drums, Arash started to teach Saeed how to play bass guitar and after a while the magic was happened, the band line-up became: Arash: rhythm and lead guitars + vocals, Shervin on drums and Saeed: bass guitar.

Since 2003 they tried to release their 1st album from so many different ways with the permission of the government of Islamic Republic but unfortunately after more than 7 years the government not only didn't allow Avesta to release their album legally, but also they didn't give Avesta the opportunity of having even one official concert in their own country because of their own beliefs which was against Rock music in general. So Avesta decided to release their 1st album on the internet for free in 2010 after 7 years of waiting for government permission. In the year 2010 Avesta met a fan of the band Called Shahram which became really close to the band in a small period of time. He was the guest player in the band as a rhythm guitarist for a year but because of some personal reasons, he could not be a permanent member in Avesta, so the band decided to work with an old friend of Shervin and Arash Called Kasra as a rhythm guitarist.
Avesta recorded their 2nd studio album called "Gunpowder Bullets" (Goloolehaaye Baarooty) in 2011 and filmed two music videos of it's songs. During recording 2nd album Saeed decided to leave the band and the world of music after nearly 7 years but they're still best friends.
