Biography
Night has fallen on us so many times, since August 2005, when the first incarnation of DOMAINS took form for the first time, yet still unnamed for the first months, since the first day it was firmly established with the clear aim of composing occult, violent and gleaming music. Four very young guys, inspired by progenitors such as Morbid Angel, Destruction, Mayhem, old Metallica and the almighty Slayer, started the decisive search to reach the force to compose music with the power capable of bringing magic and fanaticism as the aforementioned ones did, everything framed in the old Metal spirit, but free from clichés and Rock and Roll scenic drama.
"The objective was clear, the invocation of a very spiritual and oppressive art, that was and is still the main the raison d'étre of DOMAINS, and at that origin point, it was still unknown if it ever had to be reached, that was the primary requirement to continue with the band."
Months passed, some riffs were discarded, others were taken forever. After that, the first lineup changes occurred, setting the band as a three-piece weapon, a disposal that persists for today. It was on the second quarter of 2006 and after the completion of "Eucharist Of Relevance" when the entity felt the need to record the first part of their testament, in the form of a private rehearsal, and as it is said here, it happened, Rehearsal 2006 saw the dark of the day and was distributed among very close contacts, it was insufficient in many ways, but it had the potential and very primitive traces of an own style. Months of musical composition followed, a search and refinement in the style of singing and a progression in the making of lyrics, all at a very slow pace, with care and attention to what was being done, because like now, the band never followed a standard working rate imposed by anything or anyone.
It was in those days when two crucial things happened for the band, the composition of Mastery, which was an irrepressible deepening in elegance and darkness (forming together with Eucharist the structure of a recognizable style in the future), and the departure of J. from the formation, which had dealt with drums until then. This led DOMAINS to a dilemma, to disappear or to take a firm step forward and cast in stone the first demo/MCD.
"Reins were took, it was firmly believed on it, and Towards Pleroma was bled for the glory of Black / Death Metal, putting the band on the map and drawing attention from across the underground, more and more letters and interviews befell."
The fact that Towards Pleroma saw the light was but the hint of a bigger idea, which previously had been brewing in the core of the band, to create an oppressive opus whose malignancy and whose demeanor were simply totalitarian, an opus on which frame the eerie riffing and hateful vocals the band had been developing since the first day. Then the search for a drummer began , with high amounts of skepticism regarding finding someone suitable, and meanwhile, started the task of composition for the first parts of the new songs that would compend the full length. In April 2010 the band finally find the kind of person it was looking for and Nocturn converts DOMAINS again in a three-headed serpent. For the next month (and you can even speak of years) the band is still working on writing material for their first full length, which shows a change about their first compositions, an evolution, a continuity that leads to a more sinister hue with the inclusion of keyboards and faster parts, in addition to this, the constant work with the vocals approaches them to the standard the band was aiming for since the beginning, and the lyrics, they submerge deeper and deeper into the occult...
It is on the eve of 2012 when a crucial event for the band is produced when joining forces with The Sinister Flame to bring to this world the solemnly dark and satanic beast that Sinister Ceremonies is, the determination and dedication shown by both parties is complete, and it is decided that no matter when, Sinister Ceremonies will only see the light when it is the hateful piece of art that it has been promised to be. After an arduous recording process full of unexpected events and an enormous self-imposing, just when the result has become so enough dark and deep as originally intended, that is when DOMAINS and The Sinister Flame join forces for something that goes far beyond of any band-label relationship, and unleashes into this world, here and now, Sinister Ceremonies.
The future? ... uncertain in the content, certain in the form.
