Although they are from Finland, their lyrics are in Swedish as Katla is Fenno-Swedish (a minority in Finland whose primary language is Swedish). Also the band feels that Swedish is a much more troll sounding language than Finnish.

Riku Hopeakoski of Catamenia is currently the webmaster of the official Finntroll website.

After Tapio Wilska was fired in January 2006 and replaced in April by Vreth, band's original lyricist and former vocalist Katla has been writing Finntroll's lyrics again.

Keyboardist Trollhorn decided not to play live anymore since 2005 due to private reasons.

Band's founding member and guitarist Somnium died by falling from a bridge on March 16th, 2003. His death was officially an accident, but Mika Luttinen (Impaled Nazarene) claims that he committed suicide. There are now no founding members left in the band.

Finntroll is given a reference in the animated metal cartoon Metalocalypse as the name of a grocery store.

Founding member and original vocalist, Jan "Katla" Jämsen, had to retire from the band due to a viral-based tumor in his vocal cords which could not be surgically removed; he retired after the release of the album Visor om Slutet.
