The band is well known for their eco-spiritual and eco-anarchist vision, which they consider to be a step beyond the vision offered by satanic, fascistic and nihilistic black metal.

Both Nathan Weaver (backing vocalist and guitarist) and Aaron Weaver (drummer and backing vocalist) the two brothers in Wolves in the Throne Room used to play in The Hoodwinks, a '60s-style garage/R&B/soul band from Southampton, UK. That band is still around with a completely different line-up.
