Salem - Trivia

Kaddish also featured a cover song in Hebrew called "Ha'ayara Bo'eret" ("the small town is burning"). The song was originally a poem written in Yiddish under the name "S'brent" ("it is burning") by Polish-Jewish poet Mordechai Gebirtig in 1938, in response to the 1936 pogrom of Jews in the town of Przytyk near Radom.
Tanaboim was also in communication with Euronymous' arch rival and eventual murderer Varg Vikernes. After Tanaboim offered to shoot Vikernes for derogatory comments against Jews, Varg posted him a nailbomb.
Salem used to be good penpalls with Euronymous, who liked their old demos. Rumors say he even considered signing them in his DSP label. According to frontman Ze'ev Tanaboim, Euronymous even offered him to relocate to Norway and join Mayhem.
Salem formed in 1985, under the name Axe Metal. The name Salem is taken from horror movie "Witches Of Salem".
